Pre-booked attended X-ray inspection at our facility

Some items are too valuable, fragile, urgent or important to leave to standard logistics. For these cases, SMSC offers pre-booked attended appointments — subject to prior acceptance and safety assessment.

Typically suitable for

  • High-value components
  • Fragile artefacts
  • Urgent technical investigations
  • Legal or insurance evidence
  • Prototypes requiring direct discussion
  • Battery-powered products that are safe to handle but unsuitable for post
  • Items requiring controlled handover
  • Items needing immediate return after inspection

Not an emergency service

SMSC does not accept the following — please contact appropriate authorities or specialist services instead:

  • Uncontrolled hazardous items
  • Emergency incidents
  • Actively unstable batteries
  • Suspected explosive devices
  • Items requiring police, emergency, EOD or hazardous materials response

Appointment process

    Submit enquiry with item details, dimensions, photos and reason for inspection

  2. 2

    SMSC reviews suitability and confirms whether the item can be accepted

  3. 3

    Appointment is booked

  4. 4

    Customer brings item to SMSC facility

  5. 5

    Item is X-rayed by trained operator

  6. 6

    Initial findings may be discussed where appropriate

  7. 7

    Written report and digital images are provided

Important safety note

Attended appointments are arranged in advance only. Do not arrive at the facility with an item that has not been reviewed and accepted by SMSC.
